2016 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog

My Paper Pumpkin

16-MAY-Paper-PumpkinToday was my anniversary and I needed a card for my guy and I needed it quickly.  My Paper Pumpkin to the rescue!  Paper Pumpkin is a crafting subscription program by Stampin’ Up! that allows me to make amazing projects without the prep work. The card I made today came from the May Kit which contained the elements to make eight masculine (perfect) Father’s Day or birthday cards.  Because I needed an anniversary card I changed up the greeting using another stamp set from my craft room, Crazy About You, but all the other bits and pieces came from the Kit.  The card was a snap to make but don’t take my word for it and check out my video tutorial below.

Easy peasy right?  Paper Pumpkin is happy mail that I treat myself to every month.  I love that everything I need to make a fun paper-crafting project is included in the box.  Stamps, ink and paper all precut and ready to go.  Here are a few kits from past months:

Timeless Textures Thinking of You Card

16-MAY-Timeless-Textures-CaEverything old is new again.  Just when I get used to skinny jeans the bell-bottoms start creeping back.  I can’t imagine I’ll be getting on that train.  Don’t they say if you lived through a trend once you’re probably too old to give it a go again next time around?  Fortunately some things are timeless and never go out of style.

Speaking of timeless, my card today is made using the Timeless Textures Stamp Set by Stampin’ Up!  This hand-stamped card is shabby chic and modern and colorful all at once!  The stamped images make a super background for the “thinking of you” sentiment, and just like jewelry completes an outfit, the added frills of Silver Thread and Metallic Sequins on this card help make it extra special.

16-MAY-Timeless-Textures-Trim I chose the “thinking of you” stamp from the Sheltering Tree Stamp Set for the sentiment which I heat embossed using VersaMark Ink and White Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  The black and white of the sentiment is a contrast to the subtle ink colors of the background making it just pop!  It reminds me of the retro label makers with the plastic tape and rotary dials that I used back in-the-day.   Anyone else remember using one of those?  I think they’re coming back.  Everything old is eventually new again folks!

I’m on my way back home today from a few days away but wanted to check in and share a cute project kit by Stampin’ Up!  The You’re so Lovely Project Kit contains material to make 12 cards along with 12 goodie bags and tags.  Perfect for party favors or quick thank-you or “just because” gifts.  They would also make a cute presentation for gift card giving.

The kit comes with some fun tools like stencils and a sponge brayer that can be saved and used on other paper crafting projects.  The coordinating You’re So Lovely Stamp Set along with Mint Macaron, Watermelon Wonder, Basic Black and Whisper White Craft Stampin’ Pads are recommended to create the kit as designed however, the kit elements can be used for all sorts of projects.  You are only limited by your imagination.  Here is a video from Stampin’ Up! showing all the fun bits and pieces that come with this kit along with some super cute alternative projects made using the You’re So Lovely Kit.

Aren’t these projects over-the-top?  I can hear the “ooohs” and “awwws” from anyone on the receiving end of one of these sweet projects.  Whether you assemble the kit as intended or make an alternative project this kit would be wonderful to have on hand for all your gift-giving needs.  The kit is on the Retiring List and disappears on May 31, 2016 so don’t miss out and click on the products listed below to order.

Butterfly Basics Card

My hand-made card today is reminiscent of slower days, sipping iced-tea on a hot day and visiting the county fair at summer’s end.  It’s one of the cards we made during my In-Studio Fun & Fancy Card Classes this month and if I had to choose a favorite this would be it!  I used the soon-to-retire Farmers Market Designer Series Paper that I love, love, love!  The card couldn’t be easier to assemble.  I used an 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Very Vanilla card stock for the base then cut a 4″ x 4″ piece of Designer Series Paper in half on a diagonal.  The open space left in-between the Designer Series Paper is perfect for the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Butterfly Basics Stamp Set.  The little lacy butterfly image is adorable and the fact that there is a matching Framelit from the Butterflies Thinlits is a bonus!  I wrapped a bit of Linen Thread around the card at the last minute but I think it’s a nice touch.

16-MAY Butterfly-Basics-Card

When you purchase the Butterfly Basics Stamp Set + Butterflies Thinlits Dies Bundle before June 1, 2016 there is a 15% savings.  And don’t forget, customers that have ordered with me in the past year will receive the new Stampin’ Up! Idea Book and Catalog for FREE so place your order today!

Love is in the Air Bloomin’ Love Card

Love is in the air!  My husband and I are on a  team at our church that mentors couples preparing for marriage and we seem to be our busy season.  If there isn’t a wedding on the calendar there is sure to be a bridal shower so I like to have a stash of pretty cards on hand.

Stampin’ Up!’s Bloomin’ Love Stamp Set from the Occasions Catalog is perfect for these occasions.  It’s floral, kind of lacy and includes hearts along with some lovely sentiments.   I didn’t use the coordinating Bloomin’ Heart Thinlit Dies with this card but it is beautiful and I would highly recommend the Bundle that includes the stamp set along with the dies for a 15% savings right now.

Grateful Bunch Basket

16-APR-Grateful-Bunch-Basket

I might have missed May Day by one day but Mother’s Day is just around the corner and I think these baskets would be the cutest filled with treats to give to the mothers in your life!  I used one of my favorite color collections from Stampin’ Up!; the Brights Collection.  Tempting Turquoise and Melon Mambo are such fun colors and the Whisper White band around the top of the baskets really make the colors pop.

Grateful Bunch Card

Grateful-Bunch-Card There is an acronym in the crafting world – C.A.S.E. – which stands for “Copy And Share Everything”.  Well I saw this card while at On-Stage Live this month and knew I had to CASE it!  I tweaked mine a little but the original design was created by a Stampin’ Up! Concept Artist.  I hope they don’t mind but isn’t imitation the sincerest form of flattery?

The card uses the Grateful Bunch stamp set along with the coordinating Blossom Bunch Punch.  The stamp set and punch are sold separately but there is a 15% savings right now if you purchase the stamp set & punch bundle.  The punch does all the work for you so it’s a fairly easy card to make.  I love the sweet little butterflies and lace image not to mention the touch of Venetian Crochet Trim.  The Venetian Crochet Trim is one of the “while supplies last” items on the Stampin’ Up! Retiring List that I am going to miss a lot! See a complete list of retiring items on my blog post HERE.

This card uses just one color of card stock; Very Vanilla.  The card base is an 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ piece and the flower image is stamped onto a 4″ x 2-1/2″ piece of card stock.  The sentiment is stamped onto a 3-1/2″ x 1/2″ piece of Very Vanilla card stock.  There is a quick tip on how I flagged the sentiment and I also show a masking technique for this card on the video below so make sure  you check it out.

Happy Stamping Everyone!

Stampin’ Up! Retiring Lists

image

It’s that time again: Stampin’ Up is getting ready to retire stamps and accessories from both the annual and occasions catalogs. As sad as it is to see these products go, there’s still time for you to get them. Plus, retiring products have discounts up to 50% off! What an amazing opportunity to get these products before they’re gone.

I think the stamp set I’m most sorry to see go is A Dozen Thoughts.  It’s a set full of great sentiments that I use all the time. The “everything else” I think I’ll miss most is the Bird Builder Punch.  Here’s a Throwback Thursday card that I made using the punch. The bird wings were used for the flower petals and the leaves for the flower stems.  It’s such a fun punch and I’m so glad I have it in my craft studio!

Spring-Flowers

Retiring products are only available until May 31st or “While Supplies Last” so if you have had your eye on any of these products I would suggest you not wait to order.

You may view all retiring products by clicking on the links below:

Big News!

Big-News-Fancy-Fold-CardBig-News-Fancy-Fold-Card-2

Today I’m sharing a sweet little card that is super simple to make but because of a different fold appears a little fancy.  I had a bit of space to fill on the card front so I used the Big News Stamp Set.  Big News is full of great sentiments for many occasions like birthday, new baby, wedding/anniversary, and congratulations.  It’ so nice to own a stamp set that is versatile and can be used for many occasions and this one sure fits the bill.

Isn’t the stamped candle image peeking out from the inside of the card cute?  And it ties in beautifully with the three candles I punched out using the new Party Punch Pack on the card front.  Always love it when a plan comes together – lol!

If you would like to make a fancy fold card like this all you need is a piece of card stock that measures 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ then score it at 2-1/8″ and 4-1/4″.  I used Watermelon Wonder Card Stock.  The piece of Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper is 5-1/4″ x 1-7/8″ and the oval was cut from a 5″ x 4″ piece of Whisper White Thick card stock.  For the inside of the card I used a 5-1/4″ x 4″ piece of Whisper White card stock for the inside of the card.

Here is a quick video demonstrating how I made this simple card:

Floral Wings Easter Basket

16-MAR-Floral-Wings-Easter-BasketWe will be hosting 10 for Easter dinner this Sunday and I have been busy this week preparing.  One of my favorite things to do for holiday dinners is to set a fun table and this Easter I wanted to place a basket filled with sweets at each place setting.  My time is short so I needed something quick and easy and came up with these cuties.  I’m really happy with how they turned out and think they scream, “Spring is finally here!”.   They would also make great favors for all the upcoming Spring events; baby showers, bridal showers, May Day, and Mother’s Day to name a few.

I was able to make three baskets from one sheet of 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper and they were super simple to put together.  The basket is made from a piece of 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper and the handle is a 6″ x 3/4″ piece of Designer Series Paper.  I used a 4″ x 3″ piece of Whisper White card stock to stamp the butterfly image onto and the lacy butterfly was cut from a 2-1/2″ x 2″ piece of Vellum.  Here is a video I created to show you how the baskets are made.  Enjoy!

Envelope Punch Board Treat Box

16-FEB Env Punch Board Treat Box

An envelope is an envelope is an envelope except when it isn’t.  I made this cute little treat box using the Envelope Punch Board by Stampin’ Up!  I love using the Envelope Punch Board to create coordinating envelopes in any and all sizes for my card projects but I probably use it more often for 3-D paper projects.  Take a browse around Pinterest and you will see a great variety of ideas using the Envelope Punch Board.  It’s a great addition to any craft room and it’s on sale thru February 22, 2016.

The box is pretty simple to put together; just a few folds here and a few trims there.  If you’re a visual learner like me though, this quick video tutorial will be helpful.  And when you’re finished viewing take a minute to check out all the Weekly Deals below.

Honeycomb Happiness Card

16-FEB Honeycomb Happiness Card_edited-1My card today is a clean, simple card that is a breeze to make.  We made a version of this card in my February Fun Card Class and it received the most, “this is my favorite” comments so I thought I would share it today.

I started with a Whisper White card base then added a simple background layer using a small print paper from the It’s My Party Designer Series Paper Stack.  The stamp set I used for this card is the Honeycomb Happiness Wood-Mount Stamp Set, an exclusive Sale-a-Bration set that can be had for FREE with a $50 Stampin’ Up! purchase.  This set pairs with the sweet Honeycomb Embellishments.

You know I always have to add a little bling so I finished the card off with a couple of rhinestone embellished butterflies that were cut out with the Bold Butterflies Framelits using the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine.

A complete listing of supplies used in today’s card is below.  Subscribers to my newsletter will be receiving a full-color PDF project sheet for this card in their in-boxes this week so if you do not currently subscribe why not sign-up today!
